Spring Water

Yesterday was the first day of sunshine in a string of long, gray, cold and rainy days. To celebrate, we went to a nearby state park, Lake Nockamixon, to sit out in the sun and watch the boats on the lake. The warm, breezey, and lovely day enticed us onto the walking trail from the marina to the boat rental. Meandering through the woods, with intermittent views of the lake and the sky, the sound and scent of the water was intoxicating. The moist soil put forth its own delightful dark smell, the smell of spring and fertility. A lovely day, all in all so warm we could open every car window on the way home.
